Default Elisabeth Sladen aka Sarah Jane (of Dr Who) has died

Since many of us are shameless geeks, her passing is something of note to many. Here is an article from the BBC about it - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-13137674

She was, to my mind, the most memorable companion of the Doctor. I can remember seeing her (in reruns) as a young teen and hoping I could some day be as "together" as she always seemed to be from my perspective.

Her character presented as a strong female role model who did not reject her own femininity - and that just wasn't as common at the time. It seemed like so many female lead characters were expected to sacrifice one or the other.

I'm sad she has passed. I think she helped open the doors for science fiction and general geekdom to be as much a woman's domain as a man's.

wow, you think people will live forever----
when I started watching dr who, she was his companion (first run).....and boy could she scream......

I was happy when she did K9 and company (fiep loves K9--even has a k9 pin in his ear)...

she will be missed by geeks and some normals everywhere.....
